Electric Guard Dog joins Innovation Center at University of South Carolina

Electric Guard Dog, the nation’s largest security fence company, has moved into ±20,500 square feet  of space at the new Innovation Center at the University of South Carolina. The space was procured by NAI Avant senior broker Rob Lapin, with assistance from senior broker Paul Hartley, SIOR.

The tenant representation team concluded the ±110,000 SF brand new, state-of-the-art facility would be perfect headquarters for the company looking to double their space and their employees.

“I am thrilled to help bring Electric Guard Dog to the Innovation Center” says Lapin. “They are a perfect fit as the technology demands to protect their clients are constantly changing, and Electric Guard Dog can tap into the deep USC talent pool to support their rapid innovative growth plans.”

Formerly headquartered at Synergy Business Park near I-20 at Bush River Road, they now occupy the entire fifth floor of the $25 million building located at 550 Assembly Street that opened earlier this year. With the move, the company plans to grow from 60 employees to 120.

The new Class A space, completely outfitted for Electric Guard Dog, features two all glass executive conference rooms, seven glass training rooms, 7 designated free flowing work areas, and an open floor plan flooded with natural light.

“Innovation Center is an amazing atmospheric change for all of us at Electric Guard Dog. It’s great to see our employees enjoying the downtown location,” says CEO Jack DeMao. “We are also excited at the prospect of hosting some internships for University of South Carolina students, especially in our technology department.”

As the market leader in electric security fence systems in the U.S, Electric Guard Dog's new headquarters include a newly established technology department. The department will develop and integrate new and existing security technologies into the company's solar-powered flagship system.

With a full 97% of commercial and industrial customers citing "No external theft after installation," Electric Guard Dog is capturing an ever-increasing share of the national perimeter security market. The company has appeared 5 times on the Inc. List 5000 in the last six years, and was recently named "Dealer of the Year 2016" by leading security trade journal SDM Magazine.

Joining IBM and the university, Electric Guard Dog is the third tenant in the building. The Center allows the university, IBM, and private sector researchers to use technology for a host of real-world applications.

Headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina, Electric Guard Dog, the #1 Theft Deterrent Service in the U.S., is the market leader in electric security fences and perimeter security in the country. As a security partner for over 3,600 commercial and industrial locations across the U.S., the Company protects businesses from theft and provides a safer work environment for employees while reducing total security costs.

NAI Avant's commercial real estate business is one of the largest in the Southeast.  With over 65 professionals, the firm provides comprehensive brokerage, leasing, development, property and project management services.
