Bebe to stores: Bye bye

 

Caifornia-based apparel chain bebe is shuttering all of its brick-and-mortar stores to focus on online sales. The retailer, known for its sexy style, has about 170 stores, and plans to negotiate the closings directly with landlords without filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In February, the retailer said it would close

as many as 25 locations in fiscal 2017, reducing square footage by about 16 percent.The store's name is pronounced "bee-bee" and was chosen as a play on Shakespeare's famous "To be or not to be" line.
